Week 9: 19/03 - 25/03

Jesus it’s nearly April.

8 week checkup

Boy had his big 8 week checkup, he's all good. He also got his first (of many 😦) vaccination. He got weighed, still not massive. He got measured, he's pretty long. He's filling out lots of 0-3 month clothes but only in the legs. I'm still rolling up his sleeves a lot which means he might have a negative ape index. Shame as that is a good trait for climbers.

This was either mega stressful or mega relaxing for him as after his check up he did the biggest sleep in the pram of his life. Juraj concluded it was the sound of his voice and offered to send over podcasts of him talking for Roland to fall asleep to. Mum and Dad politely declined.

Playtime

With each passing week he is more and more alert between his naps; a blessing and a curse. Blessing because we get to have a good time together. We get to read books, play silly games, have riveting conversations. But a curse because he's got more energy and awareness to tell you how wrong you are and you're not doing what he wants you to do.

The picture of him holding a rattle was a momentous occasion. Babies are born with a grasp reflex, so anything that touches the palm of their hand they will grab onto. Meaning those extra cute moments of the first times he grabbed my finger meant nothing to him. But now he will be choosing to hold onto things. After showing him the rattle a few times, I gave it to him and he did not let go!

Brunch!!

Holy shit we made it to brunch. Tee has been saying for a while she thinks he would manage sleeping in a cafe while we eat. And he did! Thank you James and Roxane for helping out and waiting patiently for the boy to wake up and feed. Exciting plans were made at this table 🎿

To keep the balance of the world though he refused to sleep that evening and gave us hell. Worth it for a slice of "normal" life.

Mum brigade

After baby massage the mums go for a walk together. I hear the crew is 9 strong and not to be messed with. As a socialite, Tee is grateful for conversation outside of our house.

Carrier upgrade

Bros rocking a sweet tan carrier now. I'm on the hunt for a leather Carhartt logo to slap on this bad boy. If you have one, please reach out. He looks bewildered but he does love it in there.
