What's on the menu?
Hiking
I've been waiting for a weather window to get the boy outside in the backpack and last weekend we got a shot. The weather wasn't perfect, it was very windy, but we all survived. It's been a while since Tee and I had been out hiking so route selection was key. Almost no elevation and close to the car for quick exit (see week 10). Cwm Idwal ticks all the boxes and sells great pasties at the shop.
Hiking part 2
What's better than going out one day? Going out two days.
There's a yearly event in the village where they round up all the Carneddau ponies to check them over. Roland slept in a bit so we didn't make the meet up to get to the viewpoint on time. Tee wasn't super happy about this and wanted to get outside again as it was such nice weather.
We hiked up out of the village. It was great to see the village from above. Each time you climb a little higher, you see more and more of the village. All across Angelsey. Puffin island. And then, as we started to head down, a bunch of ponies. Tee was quite bummed about not being able to make it to the "official" meetup. But seeing a heard of them run by made her day.
Psyched on how well these hikes went, I'm excited to get on bigger days out. My concern is getting him to sleep in the pack. However, the sheer excitement of seeing the ponies must have taken it out of Roland as he started nodding off. And it was not even close to nap time.
Výšlap
Čekal jsem na správné počasí, abych mohl vzít kluka ven v batohu, a minulý víkend jsme se konečně dočkali. Počasí nebylo úplně ideální – dost foukalo – ale všichni jsme to přežili.
Už je to nějaká doba, co jsme s Tee byli naposledy na túře, takže výběr trasy byl klíčový: skoro žádné převýšení a blízko auta pro rychlý ústup (viz týden 10).
Výšlap, část 2
A co je lepší než vyrazit ven jeden den? Vyrazit dva dny po sobě.
Ve vesnici se každý rok koná akce, při které shánějí všechny poníky z hor Carneddau, aby je zkontrolovali. Roland si ale ráno trochu přispal, takže jsme nestihli sraz a dorazit včas na vyhlídku. Tee z toho nebyla úplně nadšená a chtěla jít ven znovu, protože počasí bylo nádherné.
Vyšplhali jsme tedy nad vesnici. Bylo skvělé ji vidět z výšky – s každým dalším metrem se otevíral hezčí a širší výhled. Viděli jsme celou vesnici, Anglesey, Puffin Island. A když jsme se začali vracet dolů, objevilo se stádo poníků. Tee byla docela zklamaná, že jsme nestihli „oficiální“ sraz, ale když kolem nás proběhlo celé stádo, den jí to úplně spravilo.
