Week 34: 10/09 - 16/09

Czeski

Coming off the back of long weekend in Manchester, we weren't home in Wales for very long before setting off an a trip to the motherland; Czechia. We picked an evening flight hoping that Roland would sleep the whole time. A tradition of many of his firsts. And he did.

He fell asleep right as the wheels left the ground. He proceeded to sleep the whole journey. Cabin crew announce we were about to land, we're on the home stretch. As we were loosing altitude the boy starts to twitch and move. Then out of nowhere he starts screaming. Like full on screaming. Tee and I are scrambling to do everything we can. Boob, dummy, singing, Ms Rachel, this, that, the other. Nothing. When the wheels hit the ground, he just stops. Quiet again.

Neither Tee nor I can remember how long it was that he was crying for. First we thought 20 minutes, but now we're down to thinking it was more like 5 minutes. All in all, a success. The boy did so well for the day he had. We left by car from Wales at 10am. Bus in Manchester 3pm. Train to the airport 4pm. Flight delayed from 6pm till 8:30pm. Poland to Czech by car at midnight. Back in bed for 3am. Bro did 4 countries in a day. 7 modes of transport if you count the pram and baby carrier.

Another thing to note is that the airport staff treat you like royalty when you're with a baby. At least on the Manchester side. I'm not looking forward to departing from Katowice.

Meetings

I feel bad because everyone previously has had their own paragraph but we will end with war and peace if I do that on this trip. This family is big. We're staying with his baby (grandma) who he's met before. But big shout out for the living space, food and pivo... I mean babysitting.

Since landing here he's met his Děda (grandad). Had a lot of play time with Uncle Fanda and Cousin Helenka, who wouldn't stop giving him kisses. He had a morning date with his Auntie Alenka who gave him the warmest welcome he's ever had recieved. She has set the bar for greeting a baby. He went to see Prababička (great-grandma) for a coffee and met Auntie Dasha. And then had a quick play date with, long time friend of Tee, Kiki and her two daughters; Klârka and Jasminka. They were very excited to show him every single toy and teddy in the house. Last but not least, Charlie boy. At first, they ignored each other but as each day passes by they get a little closer.
