Week 32: 27/08 - 02/09

What's on the menu?

Now we've been through most of the allergens, we can start combine his foods. At dinner time he's having his own little recipes. Like couscous mixed with some cooked vegetables and a piece of fruit for pudding. It's wild how quickly things can progress with kids.

He's also on the dairy so he can part of the "Cream Cheese" crew when he's out and about. He loves it a bit too much though and will keep piling bread into his mouth before he's finished his last mouthful.

And his understanding of food is starting to change. Before he was on solids he would watch you while you eat. And watch you intently. This morning was the first time he comes over to me while I'm eating breakfast and gives me the look. The look of "You sharing that?". So I gave him some little spoons of my yogurt.

This moment cut straight to the heart. It's a core memory for me. Sitting on the floor, sharing my food, for the first time.

Surfing baby

I feel for those parents who have a passion that their kids don't follow. And I feel for those kids who don't want to follow their parents passion. And I feel for Roland already as Tee and I have similar passions, so he won't even have a choice.

But this week he's enjoyed crawling onto the balance board. It doesn't mean much but it means a lot to me. Seeing him getting on a board has me projecting a future on him. A future that might not come through.

Family walks (and pizza)

We spent a wet day this weekend in Betws Y Coed with Laura, Ted, Gwill, and Esther. The plan was pizza, the walk was secondary. This was a parents day out that the kids came along on. However Roland took full advantage of the parents lack of preparation; we had the cream cheese but didn't have the bread. There was enough pizza crust going that Roland found some bread for his cheese.

Can't stop, won't stop

Now the boy is moving about, there's no stopping him. He's everywhere! Cables, bins, corners, cracks, nappies, wet wipes. You name it, He wants it. He's slow, so you have time to intervene but he's persistent.

And I thought we would have some time between crawling and walking but he's already making progress there too.
