Week 30: 13/08 - 19/08

What's on the menu

Bro loves tomatoes. He will polish off a whole quarter of a (big) tomato easy. Might not sound like much but when you're stomach is the size of an orange, it a fair chunk. We're also stepping out of the realm of fruits and vegetables with him; he had booby milk porridge.

When the ice cream van pulled up at the lake, me and Tee got one for ourselves. Tee had the ice cream in her hand for maybe 30 seconds before she looks me dead in the eye, not smiling, and goes "I'm going to give him some of my ice cream". He was so close before I shut that shit down. I reaffirmed that he hasn't tried diary, we don't know about any allergens, and he's been eating solids for only a few weeks now. There's plenty of time for ice cream later. (I swear, I am a fun parent).

He had apple and banana mix, it's not like he was starving

Ocean Dips

Roland had his first dip in the ocean this week. Mum wanted to go for a afternoon dip and we decided it was time for him to get his feet wet. He was less than impressed with the temperature. However, he's going to need to get used to it so whenever we're near a lake or the ocean or a river, we'll dip him in. The second time he knew what was coming and started complaining before we was even in. By the third and fourth time, there was less complaining. So it's working!

Development

Movement

The boy has the core for it. And his legs are strong. The only thing holding him back is the arms. He's able to get up onto all fours but he hesitates to put all his weight on one arm. And for good reason.. When he finds the courage and lifts one, he face plants.

Last few days I noticed that he was able to briefly (and I mean briefly) support his weight on one arm. Low and behold, boy put it all together. Left arm, right leg. Right arm, left leg. He's got forward momentum. It's happening.

Again, much like rolling over, very difficult to get on camera. You're to psyched in the moment that he's doing it to grab a camera. And should you set one up on the sly, he won't do it.

Tee: "We need to baby proof everything"
Me: "What do you mean everything"
Tee:...

Teeth

After weeks of "I think he's teething", one has finally breached. We have seen them coming for a while, you could see the white through his gums. But now you can feel them.. and they are sharp! He will catch you off guard, chomp your finger and snag you with his snaggler. It doesn't look like much but trust me.. or Tee.
