Week 26: 16/07 - 22/07

6 months old

Today (22/07/25) marks 6 months with the little man. It has gone by quickly and in another 6 months time, we'll be celebrating his first birthday (You understand how times works, right?). Someone recently asked me how fatherhood was going, my response..

It's challenging, and time consuming.. but incredibly rewarding

It's hard to describe the rewarding feeling. It's not like the usual internal rewarding feeling you get when receiving good feedback or solving a difficult problem or completing a challenge. It's external. It's a shared experience between you, them, and the other parent. It's not "look what I've done" and more "look what we've done". While I've only been experiencing these feelings for 6 months, I'm stoked to get these for the rest of my life. Happy six months my guy ❤️

Family Surf Trip

Sunday showed a little swell on the radar and after mum missing out on the surf trip to Portugal (because she was prego) and all the surf trips in between (because she was breastfeeding or Roland was sleeping) she was psyched to get the opportunity to get out last weekend. First stop though, wet suit shopping on Saturday. Not the day for it, it was super hot and she was getting an "all year" wetsuit so they are pretty thick. By the fourth wetsuit she came out and said "I'm not trying any more on, I'm getting this one"

Sunday weather was better for trying on wetsuits as it was much cooler. Lots of cloud, little bit of rain. Before I took up surfing, the image I had in my head of surfing was board shorts, sandy beaches and sunny weather. Then when you start surfing you learn that surfing (in the UK at least) is a winter sport. So we are lucky to have a bit of swell mid summer. All in all, a good day out. Tee got up a couple of times (sadly no photo evidence) and we both got to surf.

He's a happy chappy

Just look at him. He's had the shits the last week though 💩
