Week 11: 2/4 - 8/4

Week 11: 2/4 - 8/4

Beers with the boys

This week we gave him his first taste of social life in the UK; tinnies in a public square. He wasn't happy about it, I'm happy about that. He lasted well outside for such a long time. Usually we like him to be asleep for the whole duration but this time we had ago at doing a mix. It showed us that going out with him awake is okay and managed to do a food shop together for the first time in a while the next day.

Uncle Lewis

Lewis flew all the way back from Australia to be featured on the newsletter. He says it's the highlight of his week.

Jokes aside, it was great to catch up with you again. Auntie Vic, Graham, and Uncle Lewis thank you for stopping by on your whirlwind tour in the north. Roland has been entertained with his rattle. Shame about the footy.

Octopus Baby

Mat leave mum returns to the office. At a party once a head of department joked about giving Roland at 18 a job before he was born. Roland visited the office to make good on that deal.

Data

To quote Lewis "I told you he'd have a spreadsheet". It's proved useful over the 11 weeks we've been parents. It helped us figure out wake windows when we couldn't even tell the time in the early days. It helped figure out his bed time that has been a godsend for uninterrupted sleep. And now we're starting to see his nap schedule come out in the day time. Other interesting bits of data are the totals:

  • 737 nappy changes
  • 1042 hours of sleep (for the boy of course)
  • 779 feeds coming to over 260+ hours
    • In feb this was averaging 5 hours a day
    • We're now down to just under 2 hours

Legend

  • Green: Sleep (don't be fooled by the night, it's not as unbroken as it seems)
  • Orange: Feed
  • Blue: Nappy

Dungies

Apparently kids reach a point where they don't want to wear dungarees anymore so we're getting them all on him now. Here's a pic of the first time in dungarees.

I've been asked a couple of times if it's possibly to reply to these emails and it is, it'll come to my personal email. Also, have you seen the feature photo for today's newsletter? They don't come through on email and are only visible on the website.
